Gina A. Durkett-Daiber

Gina A Durkett-Daiber, 66, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio, after a short illness.

Gina was born November 21, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Betty and Stephen Durkett. She attended the former McAuley High School and then attended college, where she became a Certified Medical Assistant. In her younger days, she was an accomplished dancer. She worked in various fields, including medical assisting, and later used her gift of touch as a massage therapist and as a birth assistant working with a midwife. She loved her family: her husband, five children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a true love of music and attended many memorable concerts with her husband over the years. She loved her animals and had many pets throughout her life. She often spoke of pets from long ago.

Gina is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert; brother Larry Bennett of Galien, MI; her children Stephanie Scott of Burkesville, KY, Brandon (Kim) Durkett of Toledo, Zachary (Lezlee) Hofbauer of Ypsilanti, MI, Sophie Daiber of Atlanta, GA, and Ramey Daiber of Aberdeen, MD; as well as grandchildren Tyler, Tabitha, and Tealyn Durkett; and Morgan and Logan Scott, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Betty, and brother Stephen, Jr.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, August 24, 2026, from 2-7 PM with a prayer service at 4 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3655 King Road, Toledo, OH 43617. Burial will be Wednesday, August 26, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at St Lawrence Cemetery, Gibsonburg, Ohio.

Contributions to her memory may be made to the Toledo Humane Society in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to thank the staff at Ebeid Hospice for their professional and compassionate care to Gina in her final days.

Gina lived her life on her own terms, which was sometimes misunderstood. But she was a sweet soul who cared deeply for her family and friends, her animals, and the least among us. She will be missed.
