Geralyn "Geri" Weyant

September 17, 1942 — June 11, 2025

Toledo, Ohio

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Geralyn "Geri" Weyant, on June 11, 2025, at the age of 82 in Toledo, Ohio. At the same time, we also have inexplicable joy knowing that she walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born on September 17, 1942, in Findlay, Ohio, Geri's life was a wonderful blend of compassion, dedication, and joy that touched the lives of everyone around her.

Geri graduated from Riverside Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 as a Registered Nurse. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for serving others led her to Ohio State University in 1977, where she earned her degree to further pursue her calling by becoming one of the first Certified OB/GYN Nurse Practitioners in the state of Ohio. Her family is immensely proud of this accomplishment and the countless lives she impacted through her caring and skilled hands. So many were blessed by her vibrant spirit, and her warmth and kindness.

When remembering Geri, many will fondly recall her love for family. She cherished the moments spent with her daughters, Annette "Ann" Baker and Marcia Woessner. Marca’s fiancée Kermit Netherton, always seemed to bring a smile to her face. Her legacy continues in her grandchildren, Danielle Hill and her husband Justin, Adam Woessner, and Lexi Woessner, as well as her six great-grandchildren: Brodie, Ainsley, Rowan, Easton, Adalynn, and Blakeleigh. Each one of these enriched her life and filled her heart with love.Geri also loved to spoil her two “grand kitties” every day. They brought her much happiness and comfort. She liked playing with them and they could often be found sitting with her in her favorite chair.

Geri generously gave of herself, whether it was financially or with her time exemplifying love in action. She sponsored 2 children through Compassion International and Food for the Hungry. She used her love of crocheting to create animals for The Ronald McDonald House, senior centers, hospitals and UT International students. along with several other ministries.

In addition to crocheting, Geri enjoyed solving crossword puzzles (in ink), playing games on her iPad, going to the movies and dining out. She liked watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies. She discovered she liked binge streaming older TV series in the evenings. She looked forward to watching the Gaither Gospel Hour each and every weekday afternoon.

One of Geri’s favorite things to do was spending time with her church family. She participated in many church activities including Friday Fun Night, Ladies Lunch Bunch, Wednesday night Bible study, The Yarning Ladies (from home) and considered herself an “unofficial greeter” on Sunday mornings. What she enjoyed most though was singing in the holiday church choirs.

Geri’s love for music and singing began at an early age. She began singing standing on the church pulpit at the tender age of three. Later she would sing on the radio followed by appearing live each week on the The Uncle Jules Variety Show, until the age of twelve.

Geri and her husband, Loren shared a love of antiques and together they collected them for many years. It was a favorite pastime and hobby for them both.

They also did a lot of traveling together, especially to the New England states.

Once they retired, Geri and Loren looked forward to wintering at their condo in SW Florida condominium each year. They always welcomed family and friends to visit anytime.

Geri was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Loren Weyant of thirty eight years and her brother, Dennis Lee.The community is invited to pay their respects during visitation on June 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Southwest Toledo, Ohio. Geri will be profoundly missed by all but is leaving behind many cherished memories. As we remember and celebrate the life of Geri Weyant, we are comforted in knowing that though she is absent from the body she is present with the Lord.
