Gerald L. "Jerry" Leverenz, age 78, of Toledo, passed away suddenly in the ICU in The Toledo Hospital on Monday evening, May 8, 2017 where he was surrounded by his family. He was born on December 14, 1938 to Lyle and Anna (Tornai) Leverenz in Toledo. He was a graduate of Woodward High School and in his younger years he loved to play basketball, bowling and go fishing. Jerry married the love of his life, Beverly A. (Kosch) Leverenz on August 17, 1957 in Monroe, MI. For over 45 years Jerry owned his own brick masonry business in Toledo. Jerry had a great sense of humor and his family will dearly miss his quick witted remarks. He offered a helping hand to just about anyone in need, especially his family and grandkids, neighbors and church friends.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly; son, Gerald L. "Jerry" Leverenz, Jr.; daughter, Jill (John W.) Burnep-Hughes; 6 granddaughters and 13 great-grandchildren who will miss their "Poppy." In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters and one brother.
The family will receive guests on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Waverly Earley officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church where Jerry volunteered a lot of his services.
