Emblem

Gerald M. Keeler, affectionately known as Jerry, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, where he was born on August 31, 1936. He was a devoted family man, a proud veteran, and a friendly soul who never met a stranger.

Jerry’s life was marked by his dedication to both his family and his career. After graduating from Burnham High School in 1954, he served his country honorably in the Air Force. It was during his time in Germany that he met his beloved wife, Elisabeth, with whom he would share a life full of laughter, love, and adventure. Together, they travelled extensively with friends Tom and Ruth Mossing and created a wonderful family that will forever carry forward his legacy.

Jerry was known for his incredible sense of humor and kind-hearted nature. He filled every room with warmth and joy, and his friends and family often referred to him as a loving grouch—a testament to his delightful personality that was both genuine and endearing. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand.

His passion for sports was evident in the many cherished memories he created while watching football games at Whitmer High School and Ohio State University. Jerry also relished playing basketball in his backyard with friends and engaging in lively card games with family members that brought laughter and connection.

An avid gardener, Jerry took great pride in tending to his lush garden. He found solace in cooking and baking, often treating his family to his culinary creations. Jerry's gentle spirit and infectious laughter will be missed deeply by those who had the privilege to know him.

Jerry leaves behind a remarkable family who will carry forward his spirit: his sons, David (Debbie), Steve, Gerald A., and Tim (Donna) Keeler; his daughter, Beverly (Dan) Muszynski; his brother, Bob (Sandy) Keeler; as well as his grandchildren, Derek, Brock, Steven R., Melanie, Daniel, Jacob, Brett, and Alyssa, and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tanner, Jason, Brandon, Dillon, Layla, and Hazel. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who hold dear the memories they shared with him.

Jerry joins his beloved wife, Elisabeth Keeler; daughter-in-law, Patty Keeler; mother, Mary Keeler; father, William Keeler; brothers, Leonard, Paul, and Joe; and sisters, Rita and Mary Margaret, who all await him in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held on July 6, 2025, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass celebrating Jerry’s life will be held the following day, July 7, 2025, at St. Clement Catholic Church at 10:00 AM.
