Gerald H. Farbrother, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 59. Born on May 25, 1967, in Toledo, Gerald spent his entire life deeply rooted in Maumee, the community he loved.
Throughout his life, Gerald was known for his dedication, hard work, and vibrant personality. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a local landscaper, demonstrating pride in his work and a commitment to making his surroundings beautiful. Earlier in his professional journey, before transitioning to landscaping, Gerald worked as a security guard and local painter, notably being involved with Teamster Local 20, where he made many lifelong friendships.
Gerald found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing and walking with his cherished dog, finding peace and happiness in nature’s embrace. Camping excursions, rides on his golf cart, and afternoons spent around a campfire were among his favorite ways to unwind. His passion for adventure also extended to riding his motorcycle, playing corn hole and horseshoes, and shooting pool—activities he often enjoyed alongside family and friends.
One of Gerald’s proudest accomplishments in life was his family. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth Farbrother, with whom he built a life of 33 years full of laughter and love. Together they raised two children: Gerald Farbrother III and Autum Farbrother, both of whom brought him immense pride. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Brayleigh Farbrother and Landon Michael, who lit up his world and brought him endless delight.
In addition to his immediate family, Gerald is survived by his brothers, Patrick Farbrother, Christopher Farbrother, and Michael Farbrother, as well as many nieces and nephews whose lives he touched deeply. Gerald’s family circle was everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent surrounded by those he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mary Farbrother, brother Edwin Farbrother and sister-in-law Deb Farbrother, whose memories he held close to his heart.
Those who knew Gerald will remember his funny and outgoing spirit. He always had a sense of humor and loved to play jokes, bringing laughter and light to every gathering. Reliable and ever-present, he was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, leaving a legacy of kindness and generosity.
Gerald’s life will be honored at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will follow from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location.
