George W. Taber Sr. passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, in hospice care, surrounded by family. George was born on August 21, 1938, in Wauseon, OH to parents, Nellie Clark and Lawrence Taber.
George proudly served in the United States Army as a military police officer from 1961 to 1963. Following his service to his country, George spent nearly thirty years as a Toledo Police officer before retiring.
Along with a strong devotion to family and career, George was a model train and classic car enthusiast. He also loved to spend his summer months tending his yard and flower beds.
George is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gail E. Taber (Morse); brothers, Charles and Jesse; son, Brian; and daughter-in-law, Tina.
George is survived by his children, George Jr. (Tina), Toni (Kent), and Chris (Fay); daughter-in-law, Kim; grandchildren, Nick, Tyler, Madison, Trevor, Brittany, Katie, Marwa, Nadia, Muhammad, Mimi (“Amy”), Zane and Abe; great grandchildren, Taylor, Brodie, Tessa, Carris, Quinn, Mason, Owen, Farid, Aleyna, Elias and Majid; and his beloved miniature schnauzer, Pepper.
Loved ones ask that family, friends and acquaintances remember George’s good nature and generosity, along with the many smiles he left behind. Please share these fond memories of George in the guestbook.
The family will receive guests on November 9th, 2024, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900).
In lieu of flowers, any donations made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Fraternal Order of Police, American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated by George’s family.
