Geneva Coates, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Born on May 29, 1942, in Cleveland, Georgia, Geneva touched the lives of all who knew her. She exemplified warmth, strength, and devotion throughout her life.
Geneva dedicated 23 years of her career with Champion Spark Plug, where her hard work and dedication earned her the respect of her colleagues and the community. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Geneva was a very spiritual woman, known for her deep faith and unwavering love for God. She cherished her family, always placing her children and grandchildren at the center of her world.
She is survived by her loving children, Regina, Angela, and Anthony Love; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two great-great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and her brothers A.J., Robert, Charles, and Carl Coates. Geneva's legacy of love, faith, and family will remain in the hearts of her loved ones forever. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Mae and Johnnie Coates, who nurtured her during her formative years and instilled in her the values she embodied throughout her life.
Visitation will be held on December 8, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH, 43614.
Geneva Coates will be greatly missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering faith and the profound love she shared with those around her.
