Gary "Zugi" Zukowski, born on July 5, 1960, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Perrysburg, Ohio. A dedicated individual, Gary spent his entire career working passionately in the grocery industry, notably for Seven Up, where he was recognized for his hard work and commitment.

Known affectionately by his nickname "Zugi," Gary had a vibrant personality defined by his love for humor and his playful spirit. He was always one to play tricks on his friends and share a joke, embodying a joyful outlook that brought smiles to those around him. While he was known for his stubbornness and being set in his ways, these characteristics were part of what made him a beloved figure to friends and family alike. Above all, Gary was a giving and loving person who deeply cared for those in his life.

His interests were diverse; he had a profound love for golf and enjoyed frequent visits to local bars, where he cherished time spent among friends. A passionate sports fan, Gary supported the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees, eagerly watching a variety of sports on television.

The family would like to thank Davita Dialysis in Oregon, OH for the years of care and friendship that the staff has shown Zugi and his family.  

Gary is survived by his loving brothers, Gregory Zukowski and Robert Zukowski and his wife, Karen, as well as his sister, Debra Mitchell. He also leaves behind his nephew and caregiver, John Ray, along with a host of other loving extended family and friends who will remember him fondly.

Gary is preceded in death by his life partner of 35 years, Denise Fitch, and his parents, Melvin Zukowski Jr. and Joan Zukowski. He is also reunited with his beloved dogs, Candy and Katie, who provided him companionship throughout his life.

He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering dedication, and the countless cherished memories he created with those who knew him. Gary's legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family will be having a celebration of life for Zugi at a later date.
