Frans M. Casteels

Frans M. Casteels, age 92, of Toledo, passed away September 22, 2026 at home. He was born July 21, 1934 in Belgium to Hendrik Simon Casteels and Philomena Jonckers. As a young man, Frans' parents sent him to the U.S. to better his life and gain new opportunities. Frans served his country in the U.S. Army servicing during the Korean War. He enjoyed going to flee markets, farming and the Detroit Tigers.

He is survived by his son, Frans C Casteels and Michael (Becky) Casteels; grandchildren, Kristen (James), Michael (Nicole), Janelle (Wyatt), Melissa (Benjamin), Amber (Bryce), Mark (Kortney), Lacey (Alex), Marianne, Shelby, Dora (Andrew), Tyler (Angelia) Michael, Toni Rose (Drew), Patrick, Justin and Julian; 39 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren and siblings, Willem, Angele, Hattie and Leona.

Frans was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen Casteels and sons Anthony and Patrick, his parents Hendrick and Philomena and siblings, Jean, Andre', Annie, Victor, Hendrick, Teresia.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The family will also receive guests Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, 6135 Hill Ave. Toledo, Ohio. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio.
