Evelyn Anne Ewing, age 86, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away quietly on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice in Henderson, KY with family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her mother Lila McCullough, brothers Jack Fair and Sonny Cobb, sister Bessie Waganfeald, and grandson Christofer Quigley.
Evelyn was born in Toledo, OH and raised in Luna Pier, MI. She and her family moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1971. She retired after 18 years with MGM Grand Hotel working in retail and as a theatre usher. Evelyn was a warrior. She survived breast cancer twice, battled other serious health issues – conquering them and finished raising two teenage children on her own. She enjoyed extensive traveling with her sisters which included most states, and at least 3 different continents. Her love of Lighthouses fueled many of her vacations.
In later years she would often spend her summers in Michigan with family. Evelyn loved to dote on her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter Laurie Quigley; son Dan Ewing and wife Theresa; sister Dorothy Johnson; 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Evelyn will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Newcomer Funeral Home-West Sylvania Chapel 3655 King Rd. Toledo, 43617 (419-392-9500). Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery in the Swan Lake Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Scott Nelson officiating.
