Born on August 16, 1952, in Lorain, Ohio, Evie spent her life nurturing those around her with warmth and kindness. She was 73 years old at the time of her passing.
Evie's career was marked by dedication and an unwavering commitment to customer service, as she worked her way up from cashier to trainer and ultimately became a customer service manager at several prominent grocery retailers, including IGA, Edwards, Cub Foods, Food Basics, and Farmer Jack. Renowned for her reliability and strong work ethic, she left a lasting impression on customers who often remarked on her ever-present smile and friendly demeanor. She touched countless lives, creating connections that extended beyond the workplace.
As a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Evie's influence was felt far and wide. She cherished her role as a loving caregiver, instilling values of patience and generosity in all who knew her. The memories she created with her family will be treasured forever. Her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit; Evie had a passion for crocheting, crafting exquisite pieces that were embraced by her loved ones. She loved cooking and delighted in hosting family events and holidays, always making them special. Her brownies, made just for her grandchildren, became a beloved tradition, as did her enthusiastic support of their activities.
Evelyn's dependability and strong-minded nature made her a solid force in her family. She coordinated her husband Glenn's camping trips and poker nights with meticulous care, ensuring that every detail was arranged for their enjoyment. Her quiet strength and easygoing personality added warmth and stability to her family and friends, and she will be remembered for her genuine care and love.
Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Glenn; her children, Rebecca Lugo, David Luce, and Matt Wooden; her sister Edith Taylor (Fred); her grandsons, Eddie (Savannah) Lugo, Adam Skibinski, and Matthew Lugo; great-granddaughter, Aria, niece, Amy Wakefield and nephew Freddie Taylor, and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Margaret Tingler and best friend Marlene Berry.
Visitation will be held on December 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on December 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623. A graveside service will follow at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania at 12:30 PM.
