Ellen Jane Pohorecki, born on July 28, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Perrysburg, Ohio. A beloved figure to many, Ellen’s warmth and vibrancy filled the hearts of her family, friends, and colleagues over her remarkable journey that spanned nearly 85 years.
Ellen's professional life was dedicated to service, as a Retail Clerk for over 25 years at various companies, including Handy Andy, Ontario, and Bargain City. Her caring nature shone through in her work, where she always ensured that each customer felt valued and heard. Ellen was not just an employee; she was a friend and confidante to many within those walls.
Family holidays and birthdays were always special occasions for Ellen. She had an unmatched talent for remembering these important moments and delighted in bringing people together, whether through festive decorations or organizing lively parties. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious, and she brought a sparkle to every gathering, ensuring that no one ever felt forgotten.
Ellen was known for her serious demeanor when it came to her desires and values. She was incredibly protective of her loved ones, always willing to step in and make things right whenever needed. Despite her seriousness, she also had a nurturing and caring side that defined her character deeply.
An adventurous spirit, Ellen loved to travel and explored 46 states across the U.S., with Hawaii holding a special place in her heart. She cherished moments spent camping and enjoyed quiet afternoons baking and indulging in a spirited game of Bingo. These hobbies painted a portrait of a woman who sought joy in both the grand adventures and the simple pleasures of life.
Ellen leaves behind a devoted husband of 67 years, Stefan Pohorecki Sr., who stood by her side through thick and thin. She is survived by her loving children: Dennis Pohorecki, Cynthia (Bernard) Chudzinski, and Lauri (Bud) Kincaid. Ellen will be deeply missed by her brother, Larry (Gloria) Davis, and the heartwarming legacy of her 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Ellen reunites in everlasting peace with her parents, Angela and Leo Davis, as well as her son, Stefan Jr., her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Sue, and her sisters, Sandra Ross and Lorraine Ledyard. Their memories will undoubtedly be cherished, providing comfort to those who remain.
The lives she touched, the love she shared, and the memories she created will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Visitation for Ellen will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo on February 17, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on February 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Ellen will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, with burial immediately following the service at 11:30 AM.
Though the world has lost a truly beautiful soul, the legacy of Ellen Jane Pohorecki will undoubtedly carry on through the love she instilled in her family and friends.
