Edward Dale Taylor, affectionately known as "Eddie," was born on February 9, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio. A beloved figure in his community, he passed away peacefully at his home on August 5, 2025. Eddie was a remarkable man who touched the lives of many with his kindness, giving nature, and unwavering patience.
Eddie proudly served in the United States Army. He dedicated his professional life to the real estate sector, becoming an accomplished agent with over 10 properties under his stewardship. Beyond his professional pursuits, Eddie was a man of many talents and interests. He possessed a sharp intellect and enjoyed game shows, showcasing his knowledge of trivia — especially his impressive ability to answer questions on "Jeopardy!" He was also passionate about baseball, where his skills nearly led him to a professional career. Those who enjoyed sharing meals with him fondly remember his impressive cooking skills.
His commitment to helping others extended beyond his personal relationships. Eddie's gentle spirit and kind-heartedness made him a cherished friend, while his role as a teacher allowed him to impart knowledge and wisdom to those around him. As a proud member of the Masonic Freemasons, Eddie was dedicated to the principles of brotherhood and philanthropy, reflecting his character in every aspect of his life.
Eddie’s warm presence will be profoundly missed by his loving family, including his children, Lakeitha Hood, Michelle Taylor, and Torrence Taylor; his sister, Audrey Hopkins; his grandchildren, Torrence Jr. and Tru; and his special cousin, Audrey Hornbeak. He was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and Louis Taylor, and his son, Eddie Taylor.
The memories he built with everyone he loved are a testament to his legacy. His peaceful demeanor and concern for others' needs left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
Visitation will be held on August 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
Eddie's life was a beautiful example of compassion and love, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
