Mrs. Edna Hudson-Dennis, born to the late Geneva Scott and Edward Porche’ on December 14, 1937. A small town in Mississippi is where she fell in love with and married Herman Hudson Sr., from their union, they were blessed with ten healthy children.
Seeking a better life, they migrated north and made Toledo, Ohio their home. Once settled, Edna joined and maintained faithful fellowship at Mt. Nebo MBC where she diligently served with the Missionary Society as well as the Nursing Ministry. Additionally, she was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Edna enjoyed a long career working for the Toledo Board of Education, as well, she worked various seasonal positions during her lifetime. Edna was a born caregiver. After helping with her siblings and raising her own children, she welcomed a daughter-in-law and a nephew into both her heart and home. After many years of marriage, Edna supported and nurtured her husband during his illness until he was called home. Later in life Edna learned to appreciate traveling, where she met and married Walter Dennis.
Edna was very creative and had many talents, always finding ways to create something out of nothing both with the sewing machine and in the kitchen. Cooking was a God-given gift…making food for the soul. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with family; many lakes and rivers bore her footprints while fishing and sharing stories with her sisters…despite being afraid of worms.
Edna was peacefully called Home to the Lord on August 31, 2026.
Edna was preceded in death by her first husband Herman Hudson Sr, sons; Herman Jr., O’Neal, and Vernon Hudson. Her daughters Geneva Kynard and Brenda Hudson-Phillips escorted her to her heavenly home as well as her granddaughter, Arayah and parents Geneva Scott and Edward Porche'. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Rosetta (Eugene) Blakely, Cathy and Tamara Hudson; sons Edward Porche’ and Clyde Hudson. Holding her close in thought are her sisters, Barbara Harvey, Chicago IL, Doris Lewis, Letishia Taylor, Barbara and Luredean Scott and brothers; Lee Clyde, Larry, Kenneth, and Michael. Additionally, Edna is treasured by a host of great-grand and grandchildren as well as two great-great grandchildren, and a multitude of relatives and friends.
