Eddie Lee Rivers, Sr.

Eddie Lee Rivers Sr. 76 of Toledo, OH, made his transition of life on September 23, 2026, at Addison Heights Care Center, in Maumee, Ohio. He was born on December 3, 1949, in Holly Springs, Mississippi to Alfred and Julia Mae (Rayford) Rivers. Eddie, affectionately known as “Brother” by his family, grew up in Holland, Ohio, alongside his ten siblings.

Eddie graduated from Spencer Sharples High School in Holland, Ohio. From an early age, he developed a love for cars, something that remained a part of who he was throughout his life.

Throughout his years of employment, Eddie found a career that allowed him to combine his love of the open road with his hardworking spirit. He loved truck driving and spent many years traveling across the country. His time on the road took him to places near and far, but family was always at the center of his life.

Eddie married the love of his life Lawanda Pargo in June 2011. Lawanda stood by her husband's side through sickness and health. The family is forever grateful!

Eddie was the proud father of seven children and was blessed to see his family grow to include 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. His love for family was unconditional, especially when it came to those grandchildren.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Julia Mae Rivers; daughter; Shegara Rivers; siblings, Bobby Rivers, Terry Rivers, Philistine Rivers, and Kevin Rivers.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Lawanda Rivers; children, Eddie Rivers Jr. Elkhart, IN, Vincent (Tawanna) Rivers, Nashville, TN, Paula (Andre) Clark, Gwen (Jeannie) Rivers, Houston, TX, Natasha Oliver, Columbus, OH, and Lonzo Rivers; stepchildren, Lena Pargo and Tomora Pargo; siblings, Betty Rivers, Phoenix, AZ, Johnny Rivers, Larnell Rivers, Darnell (Holly) Rivers, Phoenix, AZ, Mattie (Burt) Snead, Houston, TX, Johnnie, (Orecesia) Finley, Chicago, IL, Ollie Mae Gibson, Hollyspring, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.

Eddie Lee Rivers Sr. will be remembered for his love of family, his willingness to always be there when someone needed him, his love for cars, and the unconditional way he cared for those he called family. The love he gave and the family he worked so hard to keep together will continue to live on through his legacy.

The family will receive guests Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer- SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
