Dorothy Mae "Dot" Rodgers, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 19, 2026.
Born on February 25, 1937, in LaFollette, Tennessee, Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Jerry Turner and Oma Garner.
As a young woman, she relocated to Toledo, Ohio, where she met the love of her life, Odell Rodgers. Their love story began with a chance meeting and blossomed into a lifelong partnership when they were united in marriage on July 6, 1953. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love.
Dorothy loved the Lord and faithfully served as a devoted member of Old Fashion Missionary Baptist Church for more than fifty years. Her faith guided her daily life and was reflected in the kindness, compassion, and generosity she extended to others.
Known affectionately as "Dot," she found great joy in singing and music, and treasured the many adventures she shared with Odell. Together, they traveled throughout the United States and Canada on their motorcycle, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Dorothy and Odell also enjoyed countless camping trips alongside her beloved sister-in-law, Isabell Rodgers, and brother-in-law, John Rodgers.
Above all else, Dorothy's greatest love was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. To many, she was more than a neighbor; she was a second mother. Her door was always open, her heart was always welcoming, and she never hesitated to help anyone in need. Dorothy will be remembered for her loving nature, selfless generosity, unwavering support, and the encouragement she gave so freely to others.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Odell Rodgers; her parents, Jerry Turner and Oma Garner; her brothers, Buster Turner, Lewis Turner, and Scotty Garner; her sister, Bonnie Maze; and her grandchildren, Brandon (Janneke) Wade Rodgers and Theresa Lynn Lawson.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and family that will continue for generations through her children, Darlene (Robert) Lawson, Dale (Sheri) Rodgers, and David (Dina) Rodgers; her brother, Leonard (Judy); her grandchildren, Robbie (Jen), Aaron (Stephanie), Allan, Sarah (Brian), Christian (Elizabeth), Katherine (Jack), Elliott, Seth, and Olivia; her great-grandchildren, JJ, Ryan, Chelsea, Weston, Emmitt, Knox, Aubrey, Ella, Lilly, Caleb, Jackson, Zoey, Gibson, Louisa, Delaney, Harper, Rowan and Margo; great-great-grandchildren, Samuel, Jessie, Ryleigh, Joey, Cameron, Alannah, and Ellie and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
While Dorothy leaves behind a space that can never be filled, her family takes comfort in knowing she is safely home with the Lord she loved and served so faithfully. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and the love of Jesus will live on in the countless lives she touched.
