Donte Turner, born on September 8, 1985, gracefully departed this life on July 5, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity. He dedicated over ten years of his career as a machine operator for Lockrey Manufacturing, where his work ethic and commitment made a lasting impression on his colleagues.
Those who knew Donte will remember him as a family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. He was selfless and humorous, often bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His creativity was evident in his passions; he loved to dance, draw, and was notably talented in graphic design. A proud sports enthusiast, he fiercely supported the San Francisco 49ers, the Michigan Wolverines, and the Chicago Bulls.
Donte had a zest for life that extended to many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed watching football, grilling delicious meals for friends and family, and planning events that brought people together. His love for Cedar Point was well-known among his friends and family, where he created many cherished memories.
A proud member of the TDT family, Donte is survived by his father, Johnny Turner, and numerous siblings: Chicola Thompson, Cassandra Thompson, Michael Thompson and his wife Tracey, Michelle Drake, Lisa Thompson, Bryan Thompson and his wife Danielle, Daniel Thompson, Tamika Thompson, Derrik Douglas and his wife Elena, Darryl Douglas, LaToya Douglas, CaNisha Rice and her husband Carlos, Danyelle Douglas, and his twin brother Jonte Turner. He also leaves behind his beloved grandmother, Hanna Turner, and many devoted nephews and nieces who adored him.
Donte is preceded in death by his mother, Erma Douglas; his sister, Rhonda Thompson; and his brother, Jonathan Turner and nephews Tavion Belcher and Derrick Kimble. He was also preceded by his grandparents Mattie and Lawrence Gilmer. Their memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.
The family will gather to honor Donte’s life with a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania in Toledo, Ohio, on July 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow on July 19, 2025, at the same location, starting at 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Additionally, a graveside service will take place at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo at 1:00 PM that same day.
In this time of remembrance, we come together to celebrate not only the life he lived but the impact he made on all who knew him. Donte's spirit will live on in the cherished memories held by family and friends, who will forever remember his laughter, kindness, and enduring love.
