Donnell Lawaunn Johnson, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, departed this life on August 26, 2025, at the age of 52. He was born on March 10, 1973, to Veronica Johnson and the late Thomas Moore.
Donnell was a proud graduate of Rogers High School, where he excelled in track and field. He had a deep love for health, wellness, and above all, his faith in Jesus. If you reached out to him, he was always ready with a scripture or a prayer to lift your spirit. Donnell also loved to read and built an impressive collection of books over the years. He enjoyed spending time in the park and would spend hours there reading the Word of God. He also enjoyed spending time with his Aunt Joyce, Uncle Charles, and long conversations with his late Aunt Ros. He regularly attended The Church at Strayer in Maumee, OH, under the leadership of Pastor Tony Scott. His faith was the anchor that carried him through life’s challenges, and he leaned on it with strength and conviction.
He was raised in a warm and loving household with his mother and step-father, the late Randolph Wilson, alongside his sisters, Ebonee Johnson and Isaphine Smith (Victor). Donnell’s bond with his family was unbreakable, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Donnell’s life was a reflection of resilience, loyalty, and love for family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Donnell was preceded in death by Grandfathers, L.D. Moore, Charles Johnson Jr., and Leo Wilson; fathers, Thomas Moore and Randolph Wilson, and Grandmother, Arthoree Wilson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted mother, Veronica Johnson; his sisters, Ebonee and Isaphine (Victor); his Grandmothers, Mary Johnson, Dessie Moore (Isaiah), his adored nieces-Taylor, Jamie Bird, and Charli Bird and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know him.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 9:00-10:00 AM at the Rossford First Baptist Church, 167 Bergin St., Rossford, OH. The Funeral service will begin immediately after visitation at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo.
