Donna June (Mantel) Fawcett was born in Toledo, Ohio, on October 25, 1942, to Gladys (June) Romire Mantel and Richard Mantel. She was married to the love of her life, Barton Fawcett, for 63 wonderful years. Together they shared countless family adventures and created a lifetime of cherished memories.
Donna began her career with Ohio Bell, operating a switchboard, and later worked for Sylvania Schools for 29 years before retiring. After retirement, Donna and Bart moved to Cocoa, Florida, where they enjoyed warm, sunny winters while continuing to spend their summers camping at Sunset Cove in Quincy, Michigan. Through the years, Donna and Bart made many cherished friendships through their love of camping, most recently at Bluegrass Campground in Swanton, Ohio. The friends they met along the way became an extended family and brought great joy to their lives.
Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She dedicated her life to her two sons, Barry and Brad, and took immense pride in her growing family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Barton; her brother David Mantel Sr., sons Barry (Angel) Fawcett and Bradley (Mary) Fawcett; grandchildren Stephanie (Troy Capron) Fawcett, Samantha (Samuel) Hemmert, Conner Fawcett, Cody Fawcett, and Elizabeth (Brendan) Valentine; great-grandchildren Lizzie, Ben, and Emma Hemmert, Peyton and Rylan Valentine; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Donna was the light in every room she entered. She lived her life with integrity, grace, kindness, and unwavering faith. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like family, not just friends. Her faith guided her throughout her life, and she remained deeply devoted to her beliefs. Most recently, she was a member of Solid Rock Missionary Church in Blissfield, Michigan.
Donna courageously fought Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). She left this world on her own terms, surrounded by the love of her family. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
Inurnment will be private for the family.
