Donald Roy Young, Sr., born November 20, 1936 to Roy and Lucile Young (Sheffield) passed away on June 28, 2017. Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Wes and Louise Roberts; brother, Nelson Young; sister-in-law, Joanne Young and brother-in-law, Terry Roberts.
Don is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Sharon; son, Donald Jr. and daughter, Debbie (Rick) Saam; brother, Jim Young; sister, Dolly (Walt) Keller. He was also blessed with grandchildren, Erika (Tim) Walsh and Kristopher Saam; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Don was devoted to his job as a machinist and to his family. He was an avid reader and loved working on his cars. He was a kind and gentle lover of animals, especially his special kitties.
A special thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and UTMC for the wonderful care of Don during his illness.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 1-3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 p.m.
