Listen to Obituary

Donald Robinson, Sr., 64, of Toledo, Ohio, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous and unwavering battle with cancer.

Born on August 13, 1961, in Norwalk, Connecticut, to the late Pernell and Elizabeth (Brevard) Robinson, Donald lived a life defined by faith, service, strength, and unconditional love. He attended Norwalk Public Schools and graduated from Brien McMahon High School before proudly answering the call to serve his country in the United States Army. He served honorably for five years, carrying the values of integrity, discipline, and selfless service throughout the rest of his life.

Following his military service, Donald built a respected career at Comfort Line in Toledo, Ohio, where he faithfully served as Paint Department Manager for more than 15 years. He was admired not only for his leadership and dedication but for the kindness and encouragement he freely gave to those who worked beside him.

Donald's greatest calling, however, was his faith. A devoted Deacon at The Refreshing Place Church in Ohio, he loved God with his whole heart and lived out his faith through humble service to others. Whether praying with someone in need, lending a helping hand, or simply offering words of wisdom and encouragement, Donald never missed an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ.

His heart for young people was equally remarkable. As a Drill Instructor for the Young Men and Women for Change Program, he became a mentor, role model, and father figure to countless youth. He believed every child deserved someone who believed in them, and he dedicated himself to helping young men and women discover their purpose, develop discipline, and realize their potential. The seeds he planted in their lives will continue to bear fruit for generations to come.

In 2022, Donald was diagnosed with cancer. What could have broken many only revealed the depth of his faith and resilience. Three times he fought this devastating disease, and three times he emerged victorious. Through every doctor's appointment, treatment, setback, and triumph, he never lost his trust in God. His courage inspired everyone around him, reminding us all what it truly means to fight with faith.

Above every title he held—soldier, manager, mentor, or deacon—Donald's greatest joy was being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His family was the center of his world, and there was nothing he would not do for those he loved. His quiet strength, warm smile, infectious laughter, gentle spirit, and unwavering love created a foundation that will continue to guide his family for years to come.

Donald leaves to cherish his precious memory his beloved wife, Tina Robinson, whose love and devotion stood faithfully beside him through every season of life; his children, Carol Robinson of Denver, Colorado; Chaila Robinson (Tremaine) of Bridgeport, Connecticut; Donald Robinson, Jr. of Denver, Colorado; Donna Robinson of New Haven, Connecticut; Stevenson Cox of Toledo, Ohio; Darnell Cox of Toledo, Ohio; and Joshua Robinson of Toledo, Ohio. He also leaves behind 19 treasured grandchildren and five beloved great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life.

He is also survived by his loving siblings, Shirley Robinson-Washington of Columbia, South Carolina; John Robinson of New Haven, Connecticut; Cheryl Waddell of Washington, D.C.; and Deanna Lomax (Michael) of West Haven, Connecticut, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. He also leaves behind his cherished 261 family—a bond so strong they were family not only by love, but by unwavering loyalty, shared experiences, and lifelong friendship.

He was pre-deceased by sister Carol E. Robinson and Brothers Pernell Robinson Jr., Wilfred Robinson Sr. and Danny Robinson, and Nephew Lamont McRae-Robinson

Although our hearts ache with the pain of his absence, we rejoice in knowing that Donald's suffering has ended and his eternal reward has begun. We can only imagine the glorious reunion as he would enter into heaven and hear the words every faithful servant longs to hear: "Well done, thy good and faithful servant."

Donald leaves behind far more than memories. He leaves a legacy of faith that never wavered, love that never failed, service that never ceased, and strength that never surrendered. His life was a living testimony that true greatness is found not in what we accumulate, but in the lives we touch, the love we give, and the faith we leave behind.

His voice may now be silent, but his lessons, his love, and his legacy will echo in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer walking beside us, he will forever walk within us.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at The Refreshing Place, 2500 Nebraska Ave Toledo, OH 43607. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at The Refreshing Place with Bishop Christopher Rowell officiating.
