Listen to Obituary

Donald “Moose” Mousoulias, 71 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on August 24,2026. Born December 14, 1954 in Riverview, Michigan. He was the son of the late Nick and Daisy (Hall) Mousoulias.

Moose was in every sense of the word, Moose. He was loud, stubborn, funny and never one to shy away from sharing his opinion- whether you asked for it or not. He was a jokester who loved to make people laugh and had a personality that was impossible to forget.

On January 28, 1984, Moose married the love of his life Susan (Szymanski) Mousoulias. Together they had two amazing children, Donald “Donny” and Rachel Mousoulias. Family was the heart of Moose’s life, and he treasured the time spent surrounded by the people he loved.

Moose lived an interesting and remarkable working life. He worked with some of the biggest names in music, including The Who, Def Leppard, Billy Squier, Queen and U2. After his years working with bands, he began a new chapter with Chrysler in Detroit, eventually working at the Toledo Jeep Plant, where he remained until his retirement in 2016.

Outside of work, Moose had plenty passions. He loved bowling and proudly bowled a perfect 300 game. He was a devoted Michigan Wolverines fan and was always ready to cheer on his team. He loved working in his garden and took pride in keeping things looking good.

But perhaps some of his happiest moments were spent at home with his family. Moose loved having everyone over to swim in the backyard, filling his home with family, laughter and memories.

And then there were his grand boys, Brayden and Nico Mousoulias, who knew him as their devoted Papa. Moose loved spending time with them, and being their Papa was one of the greatest joys of his life. The memories they made together will be treasured forever.

Moose was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Daisy Mousoulias; his brother Peter Mousoulias; his beloved wife, Susan Mousoulias; and his son Donald “Donny” Mousoulias.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Mousoulias; his beloved grandsons, Brayden and Nico Mousoulias; his twin brother, David Mousoulias (Norma Mousoulias) his brother Nick Mousoulias; and many loving nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and extended family. He also leaves behind his faithful family dog, Daisy.

Moose’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hospice Center for the compassion, kindness and care they showed him during his stay. You are truly amazing, and our family will forever be grateful.

A viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3655 King Rd, Toledo, Ohio 43617, on Tuesday, September 8, from 3:00-7:00 p.m.

Moose leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, stubborn opinions, and memories that will never fade. He loved loudly, laughed loudly, lived life on his own terms, and loved his family with his whole heart.
