Donald Keller

August 22, 1937 — July 26, 2025

Toledo, Ohio

Donald James Keller Sr., affectionately known as “Big D,” was born on August 22, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, and passed away peacefully with his two daughters beside him on July 26, 2025. Throughout his 87 years, Donald exemplified what it meant to be a devoted husband, father, and friend. A proud retiree of Powertrain General Motors, dedicated an impressive 32.5 of his life as a Special Machine Operator. His unwavering commitment to hard work was evident in the two or more jobs he juggled at times, all to ensure the comfort and prosperity of his beloved family.

Known for his vibrant personality, Donald brought joy to everyone he met. His loving stubbornness, sense of humor, and happy-go-lucky demeanor endeared him to many. He was well-liked and well-known in the community, and those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him hold only fond memories and warm words about this honest and outgoing gentleman.

In his leisure, Donald cherished simple pleasures—camping, fishing, and golfing were among his favorite pastimes. His passion for Ohio State football and NASCAR reflected his spirited character. Yet, above all, it was spending time with his family that brought him the greatest joy. Whether enjoying an ice-cold Budlight or sharing laughter around the dinner table, he found fulfillment in every moment spent with his loved ones and his beloved dogs, Maggie and Mitzi.

Donald’s proudest accomplishments included providing for his family and creating lasting memories together. He leaves behind his cherished family, who will continue to honor his legacy. He is survived by his loving children, Janice (Chuck) Sutphin and Doreen (Sam) Laas; granddaughter, Jodi (Jon) Hainer; great-grandsons, Kyle (Lauren) Reid, Austin Hainer; and great-great-grandsons, Easton and River Reid.

Donald will be dearly missed by all who knew him, including his treasured family and friends. His presence in their lives has left an indelible mark that will never fade. He now joins his beloved wife, Patricia A. Keller; his son, Donald “Donnie” J. Keller Jr.; grandson, Joshua Laas; his parents, John L. Keller and Clara Keller (nee Teal), and his brother and sister, John Keller and Bonnie Cranker.
