Donald "Sarge" Broadway, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on May 27, 2026, in his hometown of Toledo, Ohio. Born on October 9, 1944, Donald lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone around him.

Donald graduated from Whitmer High School in the class of 1964. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from May 2, 1967, to May 1, 1969. During his military service, he attained the rank of Sergeant and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His commitment and skill were recognized with the awarding of the Expert Badge (Pistol), Sharpshooter Badge (M14 Rifle), and the National Defense Service Medal.

Following his military service, Donald pursued a career as a truck driver that spanned over 30 years. Those who knew him remember him as hardworking and someone who was fun to be around. His hardworking nature was matched by his love for life and the many activities he enjoyed, including golfing, traveling, bowling, camping, and woodworking.

Donald married his devoted wife, Pauline, on August 20, 1971. Their marriage lasted 54 wonderful years, built on love and companionship. Together, they shared a passion for travel, with their favorite destination being the beautiful islands of Hawaii, a place dear to their hearts.

Family was central to Donald’s life. He cherished attending his oldest son Donald's Special Olympic games and proudly supported his younger son Matthew at football, baseball games, and track meets. His presence at these events created treasured memories for his sons and for all who witnessed his unwavering support.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; his sons, Donald and Matthew Broadway; his brother, Jerry Broadway and his wife LeeAnn; and his sisters-in-law, Sue Baumberger and Maryjo Breisacher. He was preceded in death by his father, John Broadway, and his mother, Ruth G. Cox.
