Donald F. Baumgartner

Donald F. Baumgartner (Bummy) 83, of Maumee, Ohio died May 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Toledo on April 15, 1942 to Frank X. and Olga G. (Emke) Baumgartner. Don grew up in south Toledo, attended Walbridge Grade School, graduated in the class of 1960 at Libbey High School, and went on to attend the University of Toledo.

Don worked for a short time at the DeVilbiss Company operating computerized screw machines. In 1968, he became an iron worker with Local 55, retiring in 1999. Don was a long-standing member of St. Paul's Episcopal church in Maumee. Don loved camping, especially with Lizzie #1. They were good buddies.

Don is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Linda (Reuter) Baumgartner; sons, Brian (Kelly), and Brent (Jennifer); grandsons, Nathan, Nicholas, and Evan Baumgartner, Jacob (Catie) Keller, Matt and Tyler Gargas; and granddaughters, Paige, Emma, and Quinn Baumgartner. Don also leaves his “special” friends from McDonald’s in Maumee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Baumgartner.

Friends and family will be received at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 310 Elizabeth St, Maumee Ohio on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM. A memorial service will begin immediately following visitation at 11:00 AM. The family requests any contributions be to the church. Arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, (SW Chapel), Toledo.
