Listen to Obituary

Diane Ritenour, affectionately known as "Gerty," left this world on October 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving children, at the age of 83. Born on January 19, 1942, Diane's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and an unyielding spirit.

Diane was a devoted housewife, embodying the essence of warmth and nurturing in all that she did. Her smile was contagious, and her personality—outgoing, fun, sweet, feisty, and sassy—enriched the lives of everyone around her. She had a special way of making each moment count, whether it was through her love of sewing, baking delightful treats, or gathering her family for Tuesday dinners that became cherished traditions. Her passion for camping, fishing, and spending time at the beach in Florida further showcased her zest for life and adventure, as well as being in her home.

Diane's dedication to her family was her proudest accomplishment. She was married to her husband, Lloyd, for over 40 years, sharing a deep bond that transcended time. Though he precedes her in death, the love and memories they built will forever resonate within the hearts of their family. Diane is survived by her caring children: Deanna (William), Penny (Jeff), Andria (William), and Lloyd (Joyce), along with her beloved grandchildren: Katie (Matt), Kassie (Brent), Peggy, William, A.J., Emily (John), Tim (Jessica), Matt, Brandon, Aaron, and Steve (Deanna).

Her legacy continues with her great-grandchildren: Elaina, Madison, Collin, Conor, Coree, Kalena, Caxton, Emerson, Ulrik, Everett, Robbie, Paige, Max, Eli, Oaklynn, Brooklyn, Carson, Bentily, Sophia, and Grayson. Each of them carries a piece of Diane's spirit, reminding us of the vibrant and loving soul she was. In addition to her family, she is survived by her longtime companion, Edward Foley.

Diane's roots ran deep as she attended Whitmer High School, graduating with the class of 1960. She cherished her siblings, Gary (Pam), Fred (Tina), and Cindy ,sister in law; Sue Krieger, brother in law; Emil Marginean, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Her love for family extended to her late parents, Harold and Alice Krieger, as well as her deceased sister, Carol Marginean, and brothers, Pat Krieger and Brad Krieger. A poignant chapter in her life was marked by the loss of her grandson, Corey Smith, a heartache that will always remain with her family.

To honor Diane’s beautiful life, visitation services will be held on November 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 1:00 PM. Both events will take place at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.

As we gather to celebrate Diane’s life, we remember her as a beacon of love and joy. Her fiery spirit and unwavering devotion to her family have left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, forever adored, and eternally remembered in our hearts.
