Debi Whitenburg

July 26, 1954 — June 18, 2025

Erie, Michigan

Debi Whitenburg, born on July 26, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, in Erie, Michigan surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Debi was known for her feisty personality; she had an uncanny ability to tell it like it was while loving fiercely and without reservation. Her warmth and candid nature made her a cherished friend, beloved mother, and adoring grandmother. A dispatcher for Jones Transfer Trucking Company for many years, she dedicated her career to ensuring the smooth operation of logistics before retiring in the late 1980s.

Family was everything to Debi. She is survived by her devoted son, Duane Whitenburg, and his wife, Andrea; her loving daughter, Wendy Whitenburg, and her wife, Kara; her sons, BJ Whitenburg and his wife Becca and son Tony Whitenburg; and her daughter, Angie Whitenburg. Debi was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a doting great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Sue Sundquist, and her husband, Mark; her sister, Diana Wallace; her brother, William Scott, and his wife, Diana; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

Debi’s interests were wide-ranging, reflecting her vibrant personality. An avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes, she spent countless hours cheering for her favorite teams. Her love for storytelling drew her to Stephen King’s novels, and she found joy in watching crime-related television shows. Despite her strong-willed nature, Debi cherished the simplicity of family life, from gardening in her backyard to traveling to the Outer Banks for precious family vacations. One of her more recent hobbies included painting with diamond art, a testament to her creativity and passion for beauty.

Debi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob Whitenburg, and her parents, William E. Scott and Helen Scott. Their spirits live on in the love of her family, providing strength and solace during this difficult time.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Debi's life and the love she shared. Visitation will be held on June 24, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Sylvania, located at 3655 King Rd, Toledo, OH 43617. This will be followed by a Funeral Service on June 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at Newcomer Funeral Home. Debi will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania at 12:30 PM that same day.
