Dawn C. McGovern

Dawn McGovern of Toledo, OH, passed away at the age of 56. On August 30, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family and friends. Dawn was born on September 26, 1968, to Roberta (Bobbie) and William (Bill) McGovern. Dawn was a graduate of Libbey High School. Shortly after graduating, she went on to pursue her career in nursing, where she made many friends at Plaza Care Center and St. Luke’s Hospital.

Dawn will be remembered for her pride in being a mother, her heart of gold, strength, laughter, kindness, and sweetness & light!

Dawn enjoyed card game nights with friends and family, spending evenings out on the town with her loved ones, and big holidays with the ones she loved most! Dawn was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and we will forever miss hearing her screaming at the Television.

Dawn was greeted at the gates of heaven by her parents, Bobbie and Bill, brother Gary, sister Shannon, and granddaughter Alannah.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory to her children, Marcus & Ashley (James), grandchildren Amirah, Amari, Ashtyn, and Mason. Her brothers, Jerry, Chuck (Greg), Bob Pat (Jo), and many loved ones she held so close to her heart!

The family extends its sincere appreciation to Dr Lawrence Elmer, Kristen Schuchmann, Dr Ravi Narra, and Southerncare Hospice especially Dean for their compassionate care and support.

Dawn's children would like to extend their gratitude towards Uncle Jerry, who went above and beyond in caring for his sister, ensured she was never without love and support, and made it so she could remain at home and comfortable. His patience and dedication were truly a blessing! He was her guardian and her best friend, and we could not have navigated this long journey without him.

Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel) 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. The funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 12:00 PM. Interment, Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. A celebration of life for Dawn will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Upper Room located at 1566 W. Laskey Rd. Toledo.
