David R. Wyatt, age 80, of Springfield Township, Ohio, passed away on October 24, 2025. Born on July 2, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, David lived a life rich in dedication, humor, and love for his family.
David had a distinguished career as a Teamster with Local 20 for over two decades, driving trucks in Toledo and traveling over land earlier in his working journey. His hands shaped wood not only as a profession but also as a passion; before he embraced the road as a truck driver, he honed his skills as a carpenter. Even after retirement, David found joy in carpentry, collaborating with his son Tony on various projects, demonstrating that his love for his craft and family remained a cornerstone of his life. David was affectionally called "Mr. Wood" as his CB handle, his friends and coworkers were always impressed that he could make anything out of wood.
A proud veteran, David served his country in the U.S. Navy, taking pride in his service and the discipline it instilled in him. His commitment to his country was only rivaled by his fervent enthusiasm for his family. David was deeply devoted to his wife, Cathy Wyatt, with whom he shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised their children: David Dickens, Jeffery Dickens, Tina Wyatt, and Anthony Wyatt and his wife MaChelle, along with their daughter Danielle May and her fiancé Blake. David's legacy also includes his grandchildren, Janelle Afonica, Olivia Wyatt, Trinidad Wyatt, Rico Wyatt, Emilio Wyatt, Ramiro Wyatt, Sam May, and Isaac Keefer, as well as his great-grandchildren who affectionally called him "Puma", Ty DuPree and Eva DuPree.
David's personality was vibrant and infectious, characterized by a great sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him. He had a knack for cracking himself up, sharing meaningful moments with family and friends through laughter. A true aficionado of life, David was always busy outdoors, indulging in hobbies such as bowling, watching movies, and enjoying his favorite TV shows. A passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was known for his spirited cheers on game day.
The impact of David's life extends beyond his immediate family, touching the hearts of many including his brother-in-law, Thomas Koralewski and his wife Phyllis, Tim Koralewski and his wife Julie, Jerry Koralewski, and sister-in-law, Sherry Retzloff, his first wife, Julia Gonzalez as well as his beloved cat Max.
A celebration of David's life will be held on October 29, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Springfield Township, 7617 Angola Rd, Holland, Ohio, 43528. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who cherished his loved ones and left a profound mark in their lives. David R. Wyatt will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and an esteemed friend, whose spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.
