David L. Tanner

April 14, 1938 — July 3, 2025

David Lawrence Tanner passed away July 3rd, 2025 in Derby, Kansas.


David was born at home in Toledo, Ohio to James and Lilian (Kibler) Tanner on April 14th, 1938.


David graduated from Macomber High School and then worked for Ohio Michigan Heating & Air Conditioning. He served as a Military Policeman in Vietnam.


He was the owner of Tanner Heating & Air Conditioning, employing his brothers, Bill and Richard.


In pre-retirement, David worked for Heating & Cooling Wholesalers Supply.


David and his wife, Carole, moved to Derby, Kansas in 2016 where he passed away at his residence under hospice care.


David was a very quiet, devoted, hardworking and simple man; full of love and kindness to everyone. He was sweet and thoughtful to the end.


David leaves behind his daughter, Virginia E. Lacey (Tanner); granddaughter, Amanda E. Gallagher; great-grandson, Aiden V. Curme; honorary grandchildren, Armand Curme, Cassandra, Kyree, Alec and Ella; brother, Larry Tanner (Marybeth) and sister, Linda Moore.


Preceded in death by his wife, Carole V. Tanner (Yard); grandson, Jason B. Gallagher; brothers, James (Bill) Tanner and Richard Tanner (June); brother-in-law, Ronald E. Moore (Linda); and son-in-law, Rocky L. Lacey.


Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home 4150 W. Laskey Rd Toledo, Ohio on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2-6pm. Per his wishes, no services will be held.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linda Moore c/o Newcomer Funeral Home.
