David F. "Squirrel" Nevins, age 79, of Rossford, OH passed away April 22, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Perrysburg. He was born December 15, 1944 in Adrian, MI to Francis Nevins and Leona (Haynes) Weeks. David served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He was employed with L.O.F. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1997. David had a passion for animals and wildlife, always helping animals in need without hesitation. He was known for his infectious sense of humor and would always bring light to any room he walked into.
In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his siblings, Cheryl and Vic. David is survived by his life-partner, Phyllis Frankforther; children, Todd Nevins, Kimberly (Timothy) Shabnow and Sean (Hope) Nevins; grandchildren, Corey (Hunter) Wyckoff, Evan Wyckoff, Gracyn Shabnow, Stephanie (Logan) Hendricks, Mallory Nevins, Chloe Nevins and Nicholas Nevins; great-granddaughter, Blake Wyckoff; siblings, Larry (Edith) Nevins and Linda Taylor, many nieces and nephews and his extended Frankforther Family.
The family will receive guests Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Monday, April 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to Toledo Area Humane Society or any animal shelter of the donor's choice in David's memory.
