David Alan McDaniel, a cherished father, husband, and friend, passed away on January 8, 2026, at St. Anne's Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Born on January 17, 1953, David was the beloved son of David A. McDaniel Sr. and Sarah E. Thompson. His exceptional life, spanning 72 years, was filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and community.

A devoted professional, David dedicated 40 years of his life to Libbey Glass, where he served as a Chief Operator/Crew Leader and Union President until his retirement in 2010. His leadership and passion for his work were evident in every aspect of his career. David was not only a labor leader but also a community servant, actively involved in multiple organizations including The Shriners & Free Masons, United Way, Friendly Center, Toledo Hospital ATCP, Lucas County Jail ATCP, Red Cross Life Saving, and as a Charter Boat Captain/Guide for Erie Eye Lure Company Pro. His thirst for knowledge led him to further education, earning many certificates from prestigious institutions such as Ohio State University, George Meany Labor College, and the University of Toledo.

On June 30, 2000, David entered into a beautiful partnership with his beloved wife, Doris Jane, sharing 25.5 years of marriage filled with joy and companionship. David held a special place in his heart for his daughters, Brittany (Christian) Hiner, and Amanda (Cody) Shykes, and his son, Jason Lind. He took great pride in his role as a father and reveled in the joys of being a grandfather to 10 beloved grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness to his life.

David's adventurous spirit was fueled by his love for fishing, where he often found peace beside quiet waters with family and friends. His legacy will be carried on not only through his children and grandchildren but also through the many lives he touched with his kindness, leadership, and dedication to service.

He is predeceased by his parents, David A. McDaniel Sr. and Sarah E. Thompson, as well as his loving uncle Jim and aunt Dottie Thompson, and his dear son, Joshua Lind. The void left by David's passing is profoundly felt by those who knew him, but his spirit continues to shine through the lives of his surviving family. David is survived by his loving wife, daughters, son, sisters Phyllis Halt (Dave) and Sarah Krull (Jim), his special cousin and best friend, Brian Thompson, along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

David's favorite biblical passage, Psalm 23, beautifully encapsulates his faith and the comfort he found in it throughout his life: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."  This mantra of guidance and peace will echo through the hearts of those dear to him, reminding us that he now walks beside still waters, restored and at peace.

The arrangements were gracefully managed by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Northwest Toledo Chapel. David Alan McDaniel will be deeply missed, but his love and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the joy of knowing him.
