David Garrett

David Garrett, affectionately known as Dave, was born on September 6, 1950, in Knott County, Kentucky. After dedicating 25 years to Jeep’s production facility, David retired and left behind a legacy built on hard work and commitment.

David's love for life extended well beyond his career. He was known for his passion for spending time outdoors, particularly fishing, and he cherished the moments spent watching and playing football, baseball, basketball, bowling also playing ping pong, and billiards. Boxing was another activity he enjoyed watching. Above all, David valued the time spent with his family, where they enjoyed playing poker, horseshoes, and watching movies together, nurturing relationships that would endure throughout his life.

David passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2025. He is survived by his devoted sons, Andrew and Joshua (Samantha Boisselle) Garrett; his daughter, Heather Garrett; and his cherished grandchildren, Makenzie and Kaiden Garrett. His family will forever remember him not only for his dedication to his work but also for his warmth and the joy he brought into their lives. He is also survived by his brothers, Edward Garrett, Jim (Mary) Garrett, and Jimmy (Dawn) Cooper; his sisters, Donna Callis, Mary Lee Schiffler, and Karen Piotrowski; as well as his sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth and Brenda Garrett; former wife and mother of his sons, Mary Jo (Phil) Anthony.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Opsie (Leonard) Callis; his father, Herbert Garrett; and his brothers, Fred, Dale, and Johnny (Ray) Garrett, and Thomas Callis. They, alongside the many memories shared, will be held in his family’s hearts, providing comfort during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held on July 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate David’s life and the legacy he leaves behind.
