David W. Chadwick

July 2, 1940 — November 19, 2024

Holland, Ohio

David "Dave" W. Chadwick, age 84, of Holland, Ohio went to be with his Lord in his Heavenly home on November 19, 2024 at Flower Hospital. Dave was born to the late Lawrence and Violet (Losie) Chadwick in Grand Rapids, Ohio on July 2, 1940. He met the love of his life, Joan, in the hallway at Holland High School, captivating her with his blue eyes. He graduated in 1958 and the two of them were married in 1965. Dave served in the U.S. Airforce National Guard as a cook and a mechanic. He did concrete work for Service Products before beginning his long career with the railroads. Dave was a welder, foreman, and a supervisor with New York Central, ConRail, and CSX.

Dave loved music, particularly the guitar and the bass, playing and recording with Bob Green and The Missiles and Sons of the King Quartet, and at church or any other opportunity he had to play. He was an avid photographer, carrying his camera with him everywhere. He also enjoyed fixing and constructing things, collecting model trains and train memorabilia, and he was known for his organizational skills. Beyond all else, Dave loved his Lord and had a strong faith that he based his life on. He grew up Seventh Day Adventist, later attending the Springfield United Brethren Church, and for the last 20 years he worshipped at Heritage Church of God in Maumee. He shared his faith with others through teaching Sunday School and being a Youth Leader.

Dave had a very gentle spirit and a very calming voice. He was immensely selfless and giving, he would help anyone in need. He was always smiling, and the joy that he brought to others will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin, Dan, and Larry Chadwick. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (Green) Chadwick; daughter, Lori (Steve) Chadwick Kikolski; grandson, Austin Kikolski; granddaughter, Jordan Kikolski; sister, Mary Lou Beebe; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm at Heritage Church of God,  3520 Strayer Rd, Maumee, OH 43537, where a Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
