Darla Renee Hornyak

December 1,1955 – September 26, 2026

Darla Renee Hornyak, 70, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and love.

Throughout her career, Darla worked as a Project Manager at Art Iron in Toledo, Ohio, and at Maumee Valley Fabricating. She was respected for her dedication, organization, and commitment to her work, building lasting relationships with coworkers and colleagues along the way.

Darla enjoyed the things that made life feel full and familiar: an ice-cold Budweiser, a good round of golf, a quiet book, endless hours of Euchre games, and time spent baking scotcheroos for her family. Darla also enjoyed spending time with her siblings and cousins as well as her childhood friendships that lasted through her lifetime.

Aunt D could often be found attending many different sporting events. However, she most enjoyed watching her nephews, great nephews, and very close friends’ children compete in their variety of sports throughout the years. She was a big OSU fan (go Bucks!), Notre Dame, and tennis fan. Very rarely did Aunt D miss a Wimbledon match! Darla’s presence will be deeply missed, but her love, humor, and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Darla was preceded in death by her parents, whom she loved dearly, John and Gaydelle Hornyak. She is survived by her brothers, Richard (Dawn) and Todd (Lisa) Hornyak; her nephews, Casey (Lauren Scheanwald), Cory (Krissy), and Michael Hornyak; her great-nephews and great-niece, Landon, Garrett, and Giana Hornyak.

Family and friends are encouraged to remember Darla in the way she would have appreciated most: by sharing stories, enjoying time together, and holding close the moments that made her so special. 

Family and friends of Darla are encouraged to attend the Celebration of Life that will be held in her honor on Saturday October 17th, from 2pm-5pm, at the Maumee Elks 139 W. Wayne St. Maumee, Ohio.
