Cynthia S Guilliams of Maumee, Ohio passed away on March 19, 2024 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Born in Hiawatha, Kansas on April 1, 1952, she moved to Toledo as a child with her parents, Wilbur Guilliams, and Jo Ann Frost.
Cindy started her career as a registered nurse at the former Medical College of Ohio --a career that spanned over 30 years. After retiring from nursing, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family – especially her grandson's Caid, and Preston Shaffer, whom she was totally devoted to. She was so proud of their accomplishments and they will forever miss her.
A proud Democrat, she was politically active throughout her life, supporting multiple causes and defending women's rights. In addition to her activism, Cindy will be remembered for her kindness, humor, generosity, devotion to her family and friends, and her love for animals.
She is survived by her father, Wilbur Guilliams; sisters, Terry Semmler and Diana (William) Hostetler, and grandson's, Caid and Preston Shaffer.
She was preceded in death by her only child, Nicole Shaffer; son-in-law, Randal Shaffer and mother, Jo Ann Frost.
Cindy's family would like to thank UTMC ICU staff, Kelli RN, Regina RN, Dr. Omar and the staff at Dana Cancer Center for their kindness and compassionate care.
Graveside services at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park will be announced at a later date.
