Listen to Obituary

Cynthia Annette Anderson, affectionately known as "Cee-Cee," passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on October 28, 2025, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born on October 7, 1943, in Huntington, West Virginia, Cynthia was the cherished daughter of William and Eleanor Holmes, both of whom preceded her in death. A proud native of Pratt, she made her way to Toledo in 1960, where she nurtured a devoted career, gracefully serving families and lending her warm spirit in her work until her retirement in 2023.

Cynthia's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with kindness, laughter, and devotion. Those who knew her understood she was more than just a loving mother and grandmother—she was a selfless and caring friend, someone whose thoughtful nature went hand-in-hand with her generous heart. Her personality was marked by a gentle humor—a reflection of her supportive and friendly demeanor that made her loved by many. Cynthia was also a dedicated member of All Saints Episcopal Church, having previously been a part of Macedonia Baptist Church, where her faith shone brightly and gave comfort to those around her.

With a passion for fashion, the joy of reading, and a commitment to her health, Cynthia found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She could often be found taking walks, exercising, or engaging in lively conversations that left others feeling uplifted. Her hard work and commitment as a provider for her family showcased her strength and resilience, qualities that truly defined her.

Cynthia’s legacy continues through her beloved daughter, Sente (Daniel) Stewart, along with five cherished grandchildren: Shawn Townsend, Aaron (Vontija) Townsend, Ian (Nicole) Townsend, Essence (Kashi) Johnson, and MaryJane Stewart. In addition, she will be lovingly remembered by her eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and an extended family of friends who were graced by her presence.

She is now reunited in peace with those who had gone before her, including her beloved siblings: brothers William, Lonnie, and Robert Lee Holmes; sisters Carol Ann, Constance, Rosemary, Linda Ogburn-Holmes, and Robin Holmes-Fuller; as well as her son, John Robie Townsend, and her partner, Claude Barnhill.

A visitation to honor Cynthia’s vibrant life will be held on November 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH. A graveside service will take place on November 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery, 1502 Central Avenue, Toledo, OH.

Cynthia Annette Anderson leaves behind not only a rich heritage but also a legacy of love and dedication that will be felt in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she may have left this world, her spirit will continue to shine brightly within the lives of her family and friends.
