Toledo, Ohio

Crystal Lynne Mathews, born on March 12, 1973, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 12, 2025 after losing her battle with cancer. Crystal's vibrant spirit and remarkable strength touched the lives of many around her. A loving daughter, devoted mother, and cherished friend, she had an innate ability to bring joy and warmth to everyone she encountered.

Crystal graduated from Whitmer High School in 1991 and pursued her passion for hairdressing, ultimately achieving her goal of opening her own private salon shortly before becoming ill. She was a proud licensed hairdresser and an artist, celebrated for her talents as a certified OneStroke instructor at OSCI levels 1 and 2 and in W-oils. Her artistic flair extended beyond hairdressing; she embraced her creative side in various hobbies, always wanting a paint brush or fishing pole in hand. From a young age, she loved fishing, starting at just two years old, and regularly showcased her creations at craft shows. Crystal loved going to the beach over the years, where she enjoyed collecting seashells and memories.

Those who knew Crystal remember her as one of the strongest and most stubborn women. Her loving and caring disposition made her an amazing confidante and best friend to many. No matter the challenges life presented her, Crystal faced each day with a sense of humor, laughter, amazing smile, she embodied resilience and positivity.

Crystal will be lovingly remembered by her family, including her cherished daughter, Ariel Mathews; her devoted parents, Doug and Sue Mathews; her brother, Dustin Mathews, and his wife, Jennifer; her step-sons, Austin Norton and his wife, Casey, and Justin Norton; her uncle, Mark Mathews, and his wife, Tina; and her uncle, David Brown. Additionally, she is survived by her cousin, Christopher Brown, her daughter in spirit, Jenna Koepfer, and numerous loving extended family members and friends, including Charlene Rook and Marc Roemelen.

She joins her late grandparents, Red Mathews, Rosie Mathews, Jim Brown, and Shirley Brown, as well as her aunts, Patty Mathews and Coann Brown, in eternal rest.

Crystal Lynne Mathews will be honored during visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, on August 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
