Constance Lee Ayres, affectionately known as Connie, left this world on December 9, 2025, in Petersburg, Michigan, at the age of 81. Born on July 30, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Connie's journey through life was marked by a loving stubbornness and a fierce spirit that endeared her to all who knew her.
A proud graduate of South Side High School in 1962, Connie built a distinguished career as a Real-estate Administrative Assistant. Her professional life was complemented by a deep commitment to her community, as she served as President of Best Friends Forever Rescue and held the position of Vice President of the Lucas County Genealogical Society. Her love for animals and passion for genealogy were testaments to her unwavering spirit and dedication to making the world a better place.
Connie's vibrant personality shone through every aspect of her life. She was a social butterfly, never meeting a stranger, and she found joy in her connections with others. Whether she was enjoying coffee with friends, shopping, or traveling, Connie embraced every moment with enthusiasm. Her family was her cornerstone; she took immense pride in her role as a mother and grandmother, cherishing her time spent with her grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Daniel, Jacob, and Alex (Heather) Napoletano.
Connie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Don R. Ayres; sons, David and Darren Ayres; her sister, Vickie Jeffery; and her parents, Garnet Reed and Robert Reed. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories will forever be interwoven with her own.
She is survived by her sons, Don (Lori) Ayres and Phil (Krista) Ayres; her daughter, Kris (Ronda) Ayres; her sister, Sharon (George) Powell; her brother-in-law, Roger Jeffery; and many dear and beloved nieces, nephews, family members, and lifelong friends.
Connie's legacy will live on through the love she cultivated, the lives she touched, and the many memories created over her remarkable 81 years. Her feisty spirit, culinary skills, and fondness for storytelling will be profoundly missed, but her influence will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
