Chris, a dedicated nurse and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Born on April 16, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Chris led a life marked by compassion, commitment, and quiet strength.
Throughout her esteemed career, Chris served as a registered nurse at St. Vincent's Mercy Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit and extended her healing touch to countless patients in the Emergency Room at St. Luke's Hospital. Her unwavering dedication to healthcare and her patients was a hallmark of her professional life, reflecting a deep-seated desire to help others in their times of greatest need.
Outside of her vocation, Chris was known as an avid reader, someone who cherished the solace and adventure found within the pages of a good book. She also found joy and peace in walking through Side Cut Metropark, reconnecting with nature and nurturing her spirit through the simple beauty of her surroundings.
Chris’ family was a cornerstone of her life. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Terry Szenderski; her sons, Greg (Karina) Szenderski and Jeff (Cary) Szenderski; and her grandchildren, Nicole, Emma and Alicia who brought her immense joy. She also treasured her close-knit family, including her siblings Tony, Kathy, Patrick, Mary, Tom, and Bob.
Her parents, Edward and Shirley Struckholz, preceded her in death, leaving a legacy carried forward by Christine's own life and remarkable spirit.
A funeral mass will be held in Chris' memory on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 4:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 2255 Central Grove in Toledo, Ohio.
Chris' life was one of quiet heroism, marked by service, love, and a profound sense of duty. Her memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to a life well-lived with kindness and grace.
