Chris Alan Carlisle, born September 30, 1972 in Toledo, passed away quietly at home. Chris attended Start High School (Class of 1990) before moving to Matthews, NC and Phoenix, AZ. Most recently, Chris took pride in returning to the Toledo Five Points neighborhood of his youth.
Known for his calm demeanor and quick wit, Chris was easy-going and always up for fun. Chris was a lifelong fan of WWF wrestling and collected memorabilia, including his prized ringside chair and championship belt. Chris loved basketball-playing the game and rooting for the Chicago Bulls. His self-taught culinary skills served guests both at home and in local diners where he worked. He also enjoyed playing cards and video games with friends. Always excited to share what he knew, Chris was most passionate about his service at Midstates Novelty and Fireworks, where he enjoyed speaking with customers and testing new products.
Chris was preceded in death by his brother, David R. Carlisle, and by his daughter, Keirsten Reece. His maternal grandparents, Ray and Dorothy (Rutherford) Wolfenbarger, and Wiley David ‘Carl’ and Edna Mae (Keck nee Danhauer) Carlisle also preceded him. Chris is survived by his loving parents, James L. and Angelena (Wolfenbarger) Carlisle; brother Lawrence (Tamara) Carlisle; nephews Brandon and Bradley; niece Shelby; as well as many cousins and friends. Special friends include Grange Burnside, Rich Reau, Autumn Ross, John Malik, Aaron Mylek, and Dan Butler.
The family hopes that Chris will be remembered as a truly “righteous dude”--a free spirit who encouraged everyone to be their authentic selves, unabashedly. Chris considered the challenges and mistakes in life to be learning experiences upon which to grow. He often advised young people, “Life has certain universal lessons and the lucky ones learn them early”, regaling them with his “cautionary tales”. May Chris’s love of family and friends keep his memory in our hearts. And may the Lord draw him near.
