Cheryl L Oden

Cheryl L Oden, born on October 5, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, peacefully departed from this world in her home on June 23, 2025. She was a cherished member of her community, known for her sass, warmth, and dedication to family and friends.

Cheryl’s academic journey began at Scott High School, from which she graduated in 1974. She maintained a strong relationship with her classmates throughout her life, participating in alumni gatherings and reunions that brought joy and rekindled connections. Following high school, Cheryl pursued a higher education, earning her Bachelor's degree from Central State University in 1979, a milestone that showcased her commitment to learning and personal growth.

She accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age beginning her faith journey as a child at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. In recent years she was a member of Canaan Manifested Word Church. She embraced life with an open heart, dedicating her time to spending moments with loved ones, whether it was through simple gatherings or planned travels.

She is survived by her beloved brothers, Billy (Mary) Oden and Gaston (Loraine) Oden; her cherished sisters, Patricia Mays and Addie (Charles) Haynes; her godmother, Mary Byrd; and her brother-in-law, Ricky Tyus. Cheryl's legacy also lives on through many nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family who will remember her kindness and the love she shared.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Gaston and Rosetta Oden; her sister, Bonnie Tyus; and her brother, Raymond Dwight Oden. Their memories will be forever treasured by those who knew her.

A visitation will be held on July 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 PM, both taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Toledo located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Friends and family are invited to come together in celebration and remembrance of Cheryl's life and the lasting impact she made on those around her.
