Charles Doyle Fountain

June 30, 1945 — July 30, 2025

Toledo, Ohio

Charles Doyle Fountain, born on June 30, 1945, in Gatliff, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in Toledo, Ohio on July 30, 2025. He was the beloved son of Wayne and Amanda Fountain and is remembered with fondness by family and friends who had the privilege of knowing him.

Charles's journey began in the shipyards, where he started working at a young age as a Certified Combination Welder. His industrious spirit transitioned into a long-standing career at Chrysler Automotive, from which he retired in 2003 after years of dedicated service. His commitment to his work was a testament to his character—bold, honest, and always prepared, he brought a unique blend of knowledge and organization to everything he did.

Education was important to Charles. He attended Woodward High School and furthered his studies at Owen's Technical College, focusing on Technical Engineering and Drawing. His pursuit of knowledge complemented his natural talents, particularly in music. From the age of 16 until the passing of his mother in 1983, Charles played country western music, releasing an album and multiple singles that reached the Top 40 on the Billboard Chart.

Charles shared many cherished memories with his son. Among these, their first motorcycle ride together stands out, embodying their bond and passion for motorcycles. His adventurous spirit was not limited to riding; he also found joy in working on motorcycles in the garage with his son, as well as enjoying fishing trips with his lifelong best friend, Jerry Stahl, with whom he shared an inseparable friendship for over 60 years.

A man of many hobbies and interests, Charles was also skilled in woodworking and loved to unwind by watching westerns. His love for his family shone brightly, especially in the special moments spent with his granddaughter, Harley Rose Fountain, where they would often engage in games of Uno and Rummy or scratch off lottery tickets. His pride in their achievements was evident, especially in the joy he found simply being with them.

Charles was a loyal supporter of the Iron Coffins Motorcycle Club, where his unbreakable loyalty and good heart were evident to all who knew him. He was affectionately remembered for his infectious smile and his ability to create lasting memories with everyone around him.

He is survived by his son, Charles (Rose) Fountain II; his granddaughter, Harley Rose Fountain; his niece, Rebecca; his best friend, Jerry Stahl; and his beloved canine companion, Lulu, along with a host of extended family and cherished friends. His legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched and the stories shared in his memory.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Amanda Fountain; his brothers, Don and Everett Fountain; and his sister, Letha Fountain.
