Charles A. Corpe, known as Chuck, 78, of Maumee, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025. He was born on February 27, 1947 in Britton, South Dakota to Gertrude and Charles Corpe.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; stepchildren, Jessica (Jason), Maria (Mark), Daniel, Michael (Beth), Suzi (Corey), Leah, and Sarah; grandchildren, great grandchildren; brother, Jim and his family, and many extended family and friends, especially the Monday Night Men’s Group at COTC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Charles, and his beloved dog, Chica.
Chuck worked for many years in maintenance at Wolf Creek. Even after retiring, he continued his passion for lawn care maintenance by tending the grounds at Church of the Cross, spending his days outdoors nurturing the greenery that everyone appreciated.
Chuck dedicated many years of his life to supporting migrant farm workers in northwest Ohio, leading outreach efforts at Church of the Cross to provide hot meals, clothing, and essential supplies. Through partnerships with organizations like the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) and Mercy Health, he helped coordinate donations and services for this often-overlooked population. His unwavering compassion and commitment left a lasting impact, reflecting his deep belief in the power of service and compassion.
Chuck also had a deep love for mechanics, particularly repairing small engines and appliances—a skill he used generously to help others. As a dedicated volunteer with Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore, he spent countless hours testing and repairing donated items, ensuring they could be reused to support Habitat’s mission.
In 2014, Chuck was honored as a Volunteer of the Year by Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity. The following year, Habitat for Humanity of Ohio recognized him with the same distinction for his outstanding contributions. His commitment was further acknowledged by the Ohio State Senate, underscoring his dedication to improving lives through service.
Chuck’s love for nature and his unwavering dedication to others reflected the essence of his character—always giving, always nurturing, always present for the people and places he cared about.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, 8/27/25, at Church of the Cross, 1750 Eastgate Rd, Toledo OH. Visitation hours are Tuesday, 8/26 from 6-7:30 PM and Wednesday 10-11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Church of the Cross Faith Promise or Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, causes dear to his heart.
Chuck’s absence will be felt by all who knew him, but his memory will endure in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone whose path he crossed.
