With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles E. Gray, affectionately known as Chuck, who departed this world on September 1, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. Born on December 17, 1943, in Adrian, Michigan, Chuck's journey was marked by a deep love for his family, unwavering devotion to his faith, and an unmatched work ethic that defined his life.

For over 20 years, Chuck dedicated his career to General Motors, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues who nicknamed him "Wacko". His commitment to his work reflected the values he held dear—integrity, perseverance, and a profound sense of responsibility. Retirement came easy to him, but it was his love for family and community that truly nourished his spirit.

Chuck also served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy as a mess cook. His service represented a chapter of pride in his life.

He was a devoted family man, and his love resonated through his children: Lori Gray, Tony Gray, and Teresa Engle. His legacy continues to thrive in his grandchildren—Eric, Lance, Cheyenne, Jason, and Justin—who brought immense joy to his life. As a proud great-grandfather, Chuck took delight in the laughter and innocence of Gabryl, Yzlynne, SallyJo, Savannah, and Sandy. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he marveled at the beautiful family tree that blossomed with every new generation.

Chuck's faith was the foundation of his life. Unwaveringly committed to his beliefs, he played an active role in his church community from a young age, beginning at Free Methodist Church, moving on to Restoration Free Ministry, and ultimately finding his home at the Church on Strayer. The sweet melodies of Christian music filled his heart, providing comfort and strength throughout the years.

An avid enthusiast of CB radios, Chuck often took to the roads with his trusty vehicle, proudly sporting his handle "Cookie Monster." Those radio conversations fostered friendships and connections, showcasing his ability to engage and connect with those around him, even from behind the wheel.

Chuck is survived by his loving siblings, Bill (Estelle) and Kareen, who will carry forward his memory, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him. He joins his parents, Earl and Edith (Carpenter) Gray, who predeceased him, along with his beloved son-in-law, Jeffrey Engle, and siblings Eddie May and Ed (Wanda), in eternal rest.

Although he's left this world, Chuck's spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. He taught us the value of hard work, the power of faith, and the significance of family. He will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
