Charles J. "Chuck" Calmes, age 75, of Lambertville, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2026.

Chuck was born on November 23, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before dedicating many years of service to the City of Sylvania in the Water Department. Beyond his career, Chuck was a talented musician. He played guitar and sang in Great Lakes Rhythm. He was also an avid golfer, and a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines. Whether on the golf course, cheering on his Wolverines, or spending time with family, he embraced life with enthusiasm and determination.

Chuck was known for his strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail in everything he did. He believed that any job worth doing was worth doing right. He was never afraid to speak his mind, and those who knew him appreciated his honesty, wit, and unwavering authenticity. He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Louie, who was a constant companion.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Virginia Calmes; his brother, Rick Calmes; and his sister, Carol Specht.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Joyce; his sons, Matt (Martha), Andy, and Kevin; and his cherished grandchildren, Luke, Ariana, Olivia, and Natalia; his sisters Debbie (Jimm) Jagodzinski, Claud (Fred) Ries, and Beth (Geno) Nowak. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; extended family members and friends will miss his friendship and remember the lasting impact he made on their lives.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, July 11, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo Chapel. A service celebrating Chuck's life will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Chuck's legacy is one of dedication, integrity, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
