Carol Kennedy, "The Queen", as she was lovingly called, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, departed this world on November 18, 2025, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 30, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio, Carol was a vibrant presence, known for lighting up any room she entered. A true life of the party, her infectious spirit and warmth touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
In her early career, Carol worked as a presser for Crown Cleaners during the 1970s and 1980s. Demonstrating her relentless dedication and passion, she later returned to school to earn her Associates in Applied Science, which led her to a fulfilling career as a Mental Health Professional at St. Vincent’s Hospital and St. Charles Hospital, where she served from May 10, 2003, until her retirement. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her love for her family.
Carol derived immense joy from her involvement with her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as Nan or Nanna. Their presence brought profound happiness to her life. She was always there for them, actively nurturing their development and exuberantly celebrating their milestones.
She is survived by her loving children, LaQwell, Julius, RaShaunda, and Richard (Freda); her cherished grandchildren, Stephen, Micole, Carter, Julell, Janaysha, Juliunna Carol, Justin J. Jr., Lily, Jayvon, Lehlanii, Justin F. Jr, Ra'mya, Richard Jr., Felicia; and her great-grandchildren, Stephen Jr., Amir, Ontario, D'Angelo and Mardel. Additionally, Carol is survived by her siblings, Lorna, Sylvia, Dennis, Bonnie, Charles Galloway, Ronald, Victoria, Reba; and a host of nieces and nephews, including her special niece, LaDreena Hibbler.
Carol's journey was profoundly influenced by her most significant accomplishments, notably her achievement of sobriety and her dedicated involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings over many years. Her role as a sponsor for fellow individuals in recovery exemplified her commitment to personal growth and community support. Additionally, Carol was a self-published author of her autobiography, further illustrating her inspiring narrative.
She joins her parents, Charles Galloway and Katherine (Casburne) Reese; her son, James Jr.; and siblings, Julius, Charles Casburne, and LaDreena, in eternal rest.
