Carl M. Pickard, born on November 20, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away on December 22, 2025, at Bay Park Hospital. He was 73 years old. Carl was known for his exceptional skills as a forklift mechanic and had a distinguished career, retiring from Brennan Industrial Truck. His hands-on talent extended beyond his profession; he was a true jack of all trades, renowned for his ability to think quickly and solve problems creatively.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Carl was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Brian Pickard and Carl Pickard III, and his cherished grandchildren, Miranda, Brian Jr, Heaven, and Jacqueline. He also leaves behind his siblings: Linda Wood, Charlotte Rapp, Ruth Meach, Harold Pickard (Chris), Gary Pickard (Kim), Kathy Wolfe (Rich), and Lonnie Pickard (Jennifer).
Carl had a zest for life that radiated through his hobbies and interests. He enjoyed spending time at the horse tracks, golfing, fishing, and playing pool, often sharing these experiences with his children. An enthusiastic cook, he especially relished preparing meals for Thanksgiving. An ardent fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he took pride in following his team avidly.
Carl M. Pickard was predeceased by his parents, Juanita and Carl Pickard Sr; his beloved wife, Karen Pickard; and his sisters, Brenda Ruch and Carol Pickard. He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for his generous spirit and the joy he brought to those around him.
A memorial service to honor Carl’s life will be held on January 24, 2026, at Swanton Baptist Church in Swanton, Ohio. Friends and family will be received from 10:00-11:00 AM with a memorial service to begin at 11:00 AM. Carl’s favorite number, 17, will surely be remembered fondly by all who knew him, symbolizing a life well-lived and the many connections he fostered throughout his journey.
