Camilla “Sue” Emerson passed away peacefully on June, 23, 2026 at the age of 86. Camilla was born to Margie Elizabeth Staton Coakley in Concord, North Carolina on February 21, 1940. Camilla married Edward Horne in March of 1957 and welcomed her daughter, Debra. She married Robert Jones in May 1959. They moved to Toledo, Ohio from Alexandria, Virginia in 1960. Together they welcomed four sons; Robert, David, John, and Daniel.

Camilla found her soulmate in her husband, Jim Emerson. They enjoyed spending time at the Toledo Yacht Club where Jim served as commodore. They retired to Florida where they lived for many years and later moved to Tennessee. Jim and Camilla had 40 beautiful years together before his passing in 2013.

Camilla had many roles in life; wife, mother, grandma, friend, waitress, salesperson; but the one that carried through her entire life was artist. Included in her collection are oil-relief, sculpture, acrylic, collage, oil, watercolor, and ink resist. Camilla has had artwork displayed in shows and galleries across the country. Many commissioned works of art by Camilla are in exclusive homes in California, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Arizona, and Michigan. Camilla was the recipient of numerous awards and taught art workshops throughout her career.

Left to cherish Camilla’s memory are her children, Robert (Lisa) Jones, David (Annette) Jones, John (Susan) Jones, and Daniel Jones; Grandchildren Nicholas Kulakowski, Lauren Hackworth, Erica Hackworth, Robert (Anita) Jones, Jennifer (Daniel) Duffourg, Michael (Maia) Jones, Kathryn (Alexander) Henry, John (Cara) Jones, Mitchell Jones, Mason (Shay) Jones, Kierstyn Jones, Kelsey Jones; many great grandchildren she adored; special friend, Jim Rakestraw; and many friends.

Camilla was welcomed in Heaven by the love of her life, Jim Emerson; her daughter, Debra (Scott) White; and her mother, Margie Coakley.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Camilla on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Camilla.
