Brenda Faye Carr
November 1, 1949 — March 30, 2024
Brenda Faye Carr, age 74, of Toledo, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2024. She was born to the late Eugene Carr and Ruby (Royster) Carr, the eldest of seven children.
Brenda was educated in the Toledo Public School System and graduated from Woodward High School in 1967. She spent her life caring for and helping others. Brenda worked for the state of Ohio Employment Office where she retired after 30+ years of service. In her strive to help others, Brenda became a CASA volunteer and a leader for the youth group at Ascension Lutheran Church. She also helped in other ministries including SSB children's ministers weekend retreats.
Brenda loved to travel, and cruising seemed to be her favorite. She inspired many with her travel bug including her children. She became a member of the Inner Vision Club, a social club, founded in 1979 by eight professional minority women,who's goal was helping to brighten the lives of those in need.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was also preceded in death by her loving brothers Alvin and Lawrence Carr.
She leaves to cherish her memory twin daughters, Kimberly (Jovito) Portela and Kendra Carr; three grandchildren, Juan Portela, Kiana Carr and Nicholas Portela; brother, Darrick Carr; three sisters, Karen Carr, Denise Carr and Desiree Carr; also a host of nieces, nephews including Dione Meredith, Tiffany Meredith and Danielle Carr as well as many other relatives and friends including special friends Juanita Martin and Ann Snodgrass Hall.
The family will receive guests, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 5445 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 1:00 pm. at All Saints Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel is honored to assist the family (419-381-1900).
